What to wear on Halloween (that’s not a costume)

Halloween is just over a week away, which gives you plenty of time to prepare your outfit for the spookiest night of the year!  But, if you’re looking for something to wear on Halloween that isn’t a costume, it can be hard to find good inspiration.  Enter JOY!   If you’re lucky enough to live in big cities like Bristol, London, Leeds and Sheffield, you’ve probably happened across a JOY store; their clothes are wonderfully quirky, great quality and just all round fabulous.  If you haven’t yet been introduced to the brand, do go and have a look, we guarantee you’ll fall in love with their whole range!

So, back to our fashion spread!  This is Joy’s pick of what to wear on Halloween (that isn’t a costume!)

These items are fantastic choices because they’re not only perfect for Halloween, but they also are very on trend this season.

The star print trend was sparked by Dolce and Gabbana earlier this year, after they sent models down the runway in a head-to-toe star print.  For their AW11 collection, literally every available item of clothing was adorned in the star print. Celebrities such as Anne Hathaway, Kim Kardashian, Lily Allen and Jessica Alba added fuel to the trend, wearing the star-printed Dolce and Gabbana dresses.  This, naturally, translated on to the high street, where you can find many affordable tunics, tops and dresses (like the one above!) adorned in the gorgeous star print.  So you’ll look great on Halloween and fabulously fashionable for the rest of the season too.

Printed tights are also huge at the moment, so don’t think you’ll only get to wear these once!  Wear them later in the season with a skater dress and ankle boots, or a mini skirt and platforms.  Patterned tights are the easiest way to add a bit of edge to your outfits.  See this fashion spread we created on patterned tights.

Finally, lace is massive this season thanks to Kate Middleton and her love of Canadian designer Erdem. Pair this black lace dress with some dark purple tights and boots for Halloween and then wear again in the run up to Christmas with silver accessories.
