Nautical but nice… Sailor style stripes in red, white & blue

The nautical trend hit stores in 2010 and has returned every spring ever since. I personally adore the contrast of red, blue and cream, the preppy look and the sleek lines.

I’ve put this fashion spread together for fans of the trend, here are my favourite pieces for Spring/Summer 2012:

Celebrities rocking nautical style:

Both Katy Perry and Alexandra Burke wore the same nautical style dress (complete with a red ship, plus blue and white stripes) back in 2010/11.

Kelly Rippa and Mila Kunis have also worn nautical stripes recently too. Kelly wore a blue and white stripped dress, paired with brown heels and a pair of sunglasses.

How to wear the nautical trend:

If you’re unconfident about how to wear this trend, simply pick one key item – like a t-shirt or jumper – and pair it with something you’d wear everyday, like jeans or trousers.

Want to wear a dress like the blue one pictured above? Simply pair it with plain brown accessories – don’t be tempted to go OTT with red shoes, handbag and jacket! A pair of tan sandals will work really great with this dress!
